When Is the Best Time to Take Action?

How many times have you had a great idea or felt called to do or say something but hesitated, only to find the opportunity had passed? Many people make indecisiveness into a lifestyle and spend their time wishing for another chance to take action on opportunities they missed.

When Is the Best Time to Take Action?

There are so many reasons for the hesitation and lack of immediate action, including fear of ridicule, doubting one’s own abilities, and overanalyzing the simplest decisions. Allowing any of these things to become a part of your everyday life will have a negative effect on you. So, learning how to find pertinent information – so you can make informed decisions and take up the practice of moving quickly to action when a great opportunity is in front of you – can change your life.

“Life is a checkerboard and the player opposite you is time. If you hesitate before moving, or neglect to move promptly, your men will be wiped off the board by time. You are playing against a partner who will not tolerate indecision.”  – Napoleon Hill

Take Action to Change Your Life

Making a decision and taking action always comes with the chance of failure, but continuing as you are, without acting on ideas or making decisions, means the likelihood of positive change coming to your life is slim or nonexistent. Change is scary and things don’t always go as you plan or hope, but if your current state isn’t satisfying to you, isn’t remaining as you are also a form a failure?

“Most ideas are stillborn, and need the breath of life injected into them through definite plans of immediate action. The time to nurse an idea is at the time of its birth. Every minute it lives, gives it a better chance of surviving. The fear of criticism is at the bottom of the destruction of most ideas which never reach the planning and action stage.”  – N. Hill

Set New Goals if Things Don’t Go Right the First Time

Sometimes the timing is wrong for even the most brilliant of ideas. That doesn’t mean you have to give up, or that the idea should be discarded, or that future ideas you have will meet the same end, but it does mean you might have to search for new information and adjust your plans and set new goals that include data that was missing from your original goals.

“The majority of people are ready to throw their aims and purposes overboard, and give up at the first sign of opposition or misfortune.  – N. Hill

It is in your hands, and of course in your mind, to choose if you are satisfied with your current state and if you want to go along as you are, or if you want to rewrite your life story to include positivity and success. Learning how to make good decisions and act on them promptly  is a way to turn an unhappy and dissatisfying life into a happier and more satisfying life.
